Police stopped an illegal puppy transport near Freiburg

In Germany, officers of the Polizeipräsidium Freiburg stopped two vans illegally transporting puppies from Moldova to France.

According to the investigation, seven puppies were kept in cramped plastic containers and bags, without water, food, or the required documents.

None of the animals had a microchip, rabies vaccination, or a TRACES certificate — all mandatory for import from third countries.

An alert witness reported the suspicious vans parked between the Freiburg-Mitte and Freiburg-Süd exits — his call helped prevent the illegal transfer of the animals across the border.

The puppies were confiscated, taken to a veterinary clinic, and placed under quarantine.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the transporters for violating animal welfare and veterinary regulations.

A security deposit was retained, and the case files were handed over to the veterinary authorities for further investigation.
