🐾 Small pets (cats, small dogs, birds, etc.)
Allowed: Cats, small dogs, birds, and other small domestic animals.
Conditions:
- Animals must be transported in a closed container (carrier, cage, or basket) with a maximum total dimension of 200 cm (sum of length + width + height).
- No more than two small animals per container per passenger.
- The container must be placed on the passenger’s lap or in the hand luggage space.
- Animals must not be taken out of the container during the trip.
Cost: Transport is
paid separately; the fare depends on the travel distance.
🐶 Large dogs
Allowed: Under specific conditions.
Conditions:
- The dog must be on a short leash and wear a muzzle.
- The passenger must purchase all seats in the compartment.
- The number of passengers and dogs must not exceed the number of seats in the compartment.
- Dangerous dogs (as marked in the veterinary passport) are not allowed.
- The dog must not occupy a seat.
Cost: The passenger pays the
full fare for all seats in the compartment. No extra fee is charged for the dog.
🦮 Guide and service dogs
Allowed: On all trains without restrictions.
Conditions:
- The dog must accompany a passenger with a disability or be on official duty.
- The dog must be on a leash and wear a muzzle.
Cost: Free of charge.
🚆 Train types and travel classes
Animal transport allowed:
- In all car types, except sleeping and high-comfort cars.
- On long-distance trains, including couchette and compartment cars, if the above rules are followed.
Restrictions:
- Animals are not allowed in high-comfort and sleeping cars.
📄 Required documents
- A veterinary certificate confirming the animal’s health and vaccination status is required.
- For international travel, additional documents such as veterinary export certificates may be required.
⚠️ General restrictions
- Animals must be clean, healthy, and non-aggressive.
- Animals that may pose a threat to passengers or railway staff are not allowed for transport.
